This award is to show how to protect and safeguard children (under 16s) and young people (16 to 18 year olds) and identify risks and signs of abuse.

There are no learning prerequisites for taking this course providing you have a minimum of Level 1 for literacy and numeracy.

The Training Manager taking the course is also assessor.

The learning outcomes from this course are as follows:

  • Understand the key elements of the law with regards to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Protecting yourself from complaints within a professional setting.
  • Identifying different types of child abuse.
  • Understand what actions and responses where you suspect an abuse is taking place.
