As Care Workers, you will often be in the closet position to understand if a service user is suffering from or at risk of abuse. You will be expected to act upon knowledge of abuse and navigate difficult situations to ensure service users don’t come to harm. This course will ensure that you are aware of your service users’ vulnerabilities and understand the best way to support them and get them the help they need.

The learning outcomes from this course are as follows:

  • An overview of the Care Act 2014 and its six key principles.
  • Learning what are the signs and indicators of abuse and how do you identify the risks.
  • Reviewing examples of abuse.
  • The correct steps to take if you suspect a service user is being abused.
  • What is the role of a Care Worker when abuse is suspected.
  • What sort of records will be used to ensure adult safeguarding.
  • What is the SOVA register (Safeguarding Of Vulnerable Adults) and what is DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
