This is a half day course which look into pressure care and explores how to support a service user in a dignified manner to eliminate or reduce of the risks of pressure ulcers and to know what to do when you see the signs of pressure ulcers.
The learning outcomes from this course are as follows:
- Understand the basic structure of the skin and underlying tissue as well as factors that can increase the breakdown of skin and tissues.
- Identify the impact of shearing forces, friction and rubbing on skin.
- Recognise your role in assessing skin condition, identifying damaged areas, preventing pressure ulcers and caring for pressure ulcers.
- Recognise the role of other health professionals in preventing breakdown of, or managing pressure areas, including Dietitian’s, Nurses, Occupational Therapists and GPs.
